Summary
Karate Canada operates through its committees, who oversee and implement policies and guidelines that affect different aspects of sport karate in Canada. You will find an overview of each committee below.
Karate for AWAD Committee
To investigate, develop and implement Karate Canada’s National program for the integration of athletes with a disability (AWAD) into Karate programs and events, including the competition structure.
LTAD Committee
This committee is responsible for the communication and implementation of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) for Karate Canada in the provincial branches. Karate Canada is in the process of completing the Karate For Life Booklet, which outlines our LTAD process. The next major project will be a competition review, which will start in early 2010.

National Coaching Committee
The national coaching committee is responsible for the selection, training and evaluation of all athletes on the junior and senior squads. This committee oversees the team during all tournaments and training camps, and is responsible for communicating all necessary information about the national team program to all interested parties.

NCCP Committee
The committee, in close collaboration with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), is completing the Competition-Introduction / Instructor-Beginner certification for Karate Canada. We are also in the process of having the template for the Competition-Development certification finalized for conditional approval by the CAC.

Officials Committee
The Officials Committee oversees the training and development of all national level officials. It sets the standards for officiating at the Karate Canada level, in addition to the provinces. The members of the committee participate in international officiating seminars and tournaments to keep abreast of the latest developments in the rules of competition. In addition, they will monitor the progress of Karate Canada's officials at all major international championships.

Technical Committee
This committee is responsible for analyzing all applications by new style associations who wish to join Karate Canada. They also review the curriculum of the major styles in Canada to allow for standardized Karate Canada dan examinations.

Tournament Organizing Committee
National Championships
This committee is responsible for overseeing the organization of the event. The members of the committee work with the local hosting committee to ensure that the preparations for the championships conform to the standards set out by Karate Canada. The tournament director of the national championships is a member of this committee.
